About us

UK CULTURE TRUST is a CIC, acting to highlight, safeguard and invest in cultural and community spaces and activity.

Our vision is of UK CULTURE TRUST as a champion for cultural space, in a UK where our historic community assets are valued and protected, where everyone can take part in high quality culture and where all communities are proud to call where they live ‘home’.

Our mission is to transform the way in which space for culture and wellbeing is supported in our neighbourhoods. We will do this by campaigning for the protection of cultural assets, connecting with communities and creating new partnerships to support the acquisition of these spaces and places for and by their communities.

    Euan Maybank

    Chair of Trustees

    Euan is an experienced cultural and estates strategic management professional, with over 25 years’ experience in the arts and education sectors. With a career focus in Technical and Facilities management, he has in-depth knowledge of site operation, capital project development and meanwhile use.

    Euan is a founder member of renowned immersive theatre company Punchdrunk, working with them for 15 years on many of their most famous projects. Punchdrunk create transformational theatre in functionally redundant buildings, in the uk, internationally, online and on screen.

    Euan was previously Technical Director at The Marlowe on the UK No1 Theatre circuit.

    Sam Scott

    Fundraising and Development

    Sam is a fundraising and marketing professional with 25 years working with theatres and charities in London and Kent. Driven by a desire to make good things happen, and a passion for equality of  opportunity, she has extensive knowledge and skills in fundraising across the disciplines of events, marketing, and communications.  

    Sam’s career started at Theatre Peckham, producing small-scale theatre and includes five years at the National Theatre and eight years at The Marlowe.

    Sam is currently working to fund a range of new creative projects at the University of Kent.

    Paul Ainsworth

    Creative and Engagement 

    Paul is a director, practitioner and theatre maker, experienced in creating performance with both professional and community artists.

    As Associate Director of Learning and Participation at The Marlowe in Canterbury, Paul led the theatre’s engagement programme, developing partnerships with schools across Kent and the South-East and leading nationally recognised programmes with the National Theatre and Royal Shakespeare Company. 

    Paul now leads the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Talent Development Programme - Next  Generation. The programme supports thousands of young people who experience structural disadvantage, to develop their skills in acting, directing and  backstage skills - supporting them to access a career in theatre.
